From ex-president to lead ICC.



John Howard, Australian, Former Prime Minister, a cricket lover, won the nomination to head ICC ,from 2012 onwards. Scroll down for details…..
Howard , being appointed as ICC head from 2012,has said he was honored to take over the responsibility when it next becomes available.
‘’I would like to work for the interest of the game that I’ve loved my entire life.’’ Howard told reporters, who was the preferred candidate for Australia won it after a long debate between Australia and New Zealand, as if, who would be their joint candidate. New Zealand wanted to nominate former NZC chairman John Anderson for the post.
Ultimately the officials asked a independent member in Rod Eddington, a bussines leader and former CEO of British Airway to negotiate.
‘’We are pleased that, John Howard, an eminent candidate, has agreed to take the role of joint CA-NZC nominee for the ICC Presidency.’’ Both the board said in a statement.
The joint statement stated that ICC faced’’ significant internal and external challenges in its quest to become an originally global sport.’’
However, Howard realized that finding a balance between all forms of the game would be a focus.The ICC presidency is a two- years rotating position, currently held by England’s David Morgan, who hands over to India’s Sharad Pawar later this year.IN the meantime, Howard is to act as ICC’s deputy boss in July ahead of taking over full leadership in mid-2012.
